Voyage helps you plan trips with the people you're travelling with. Doing that well means we have to store a little of your data. This page lays out what we collect, what we do with it, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- Account identity. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user ID, your display name, and (if you allow it) your email address and profile photo URL. We never see your Apple or Google password.
- Trip content you create. Trip titles, dates, destinations; flights, stays, restaurants, tours, activities, transport, and notes you add; cover photos you select; and comments you post to trips you're on.
- Calendar (optional). If you enable calendar sync in Settings, Voyage reads from your iOS calendar to surface relevant events; events are stored on-device and synced one-way to a dedicated "Voyage" calendar you can delete at any time.
- Map pins you type. Voyage shows your trip on a map using place names and addresses you enter. Voyage does not track your real-time location, and we do not request "Always" location access.
- Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we register a Firebase Cloud Messaging token tied to your account so we can notify trip-mates when you add items or post comments.
- Basic diagnostics. Crash logs, device model, iOS version, and app version may be captured by Firebase to help us fix bugs. This data isn't tied to advertising identifiers and we don't use it to build a profile of you.
We do not collect: advertising identifiers (IDFA), precise GPS coordinates, contacts, microphone, or photos beyond images you explicitly choose as trip cover photos.
What we do with it
- Provide the trip-planning service: sync your trips across devices, share them with people you invite, and deliver push notifications to the right travellers.
- Diagnose crashes and improve the app.
- Reply to questions you send to support.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not run third-party analytics that tracks you across the web.
Who sees it
- People you invite to a trip. When you share a trip, the people you invite see the trip content (items, comments, dates) and your display name and photo. They do not see your email address.
- Firebase / Google Cloud. Voyage runs on Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions, Hosting). Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers under the project
mytripvoyageapp. - Apple / Google (sign-in providers). The sign-in handshake goes through Apple or Google as you chose. After sign-in we keep only the identity attributes listed above.
- Legal process. If we receive a valid legal request, we may have to disclose data — and we'll push back on overreaching requests where we can.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (see below) we remove your data from our active systems immediately and from Firebase's encrypted backups within 30 days.
How to delete your account
Open Voyage → Settings → Account → Delete account. The in-app flow removes:
- Trips you own (and they disappear for everyone you shared them with).
- Your participation in trips you joined.
- Comments you wrote.
- Your account record, including push notification tokens.
- Your sign-in credentials with us (the next time you sign in with the same Apple or Google identity, you'll start with a fresh, empty account).
If you can't reach the in-app flow — for example, if you've lost access to your Apple ID — email us at support@mytripvoyage.com and we'll handle it manually.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. The delete flow above satisfies the right to deletion; for the others, email support@mytripvoyage.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You won't be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
Children
Voyage is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Traffic to Voyage goes over HTTPS. Trip data is protected by Realtime Database security rules that deny reads to anyone who isn't an authenticated participant of the trip. No system is perfect — if you find a security issue, please email us before disclosing publicly.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when the most recent change happened. If we make a material change that affects how we use your data, we'll notify you in the app before it takes effect.
